Stalling!!!Please help me....

Hi my car keep stalling when its sitting idle.I drove it a couple of hours non stop on motorway and when i slowed for round abouts etc the revs just dropped and it chonks out.I wash my engine on friday so i was thinking it was wet somewhere but im sure it would of dried off by now..
I just started it up and it ticked over because the carb was working but once it warmed up it just died again.Any ideas guys?

i had a similar problem with my 1.5 with a manual choke  it turned out to be a fuse leading to the carb hope this helps :dontknow:

hey if your car is cutting out! check the air box is clean and the carb has no dirt in it!!! blow it through with sum carb cleaner, and just check all the connections are dry!! also if you have a in line fuel filter check its clean and theres no dirt in it..........

We had this issue with our golf and I serviced the carb and that seemed to solve it.  

The sign I found was when you give a very slight increase in revs it dips as you touch teh throttle when chocke is on.

Now the carb has been serviced it was running well.

I do recall reading in Golf+ or PVW something about fuel freezing and car stalling after running ok. Not sure of full details. Mag's at home and I'm at work so will post that article Thurs nite.
