Stalling on pull away, ok when going !!

I really have to rev and slip the clutch on pull away in first to get going, once going and in 2nd etc it seems fine, bearing in mind so far I have only driven the car round the block, so have not had it up to speed..

It almost feels like i'm trying to pull away in 3rd!!

What could this be? its running a webber carb by the way, and hasn't got an airfilter in the airbox, but I'm sure thats not the problem!

Any advise will be appreciated because I cant think of anything!  :banghead:

Cheers
Marc

might be a daft suggestion but i had the same problem wi my mk1 cab and it turned out that the brake drums had seized due to them warping cos they were sooooo old  now i can reverse wi no gas at all,

Thats not a daft suggestion, but surely I'd hear them rubbing if it was that, plus it free wheels down the drive easy enough.

Thanks
