Single 40 DCOE Weber - 1991 Golf Clipper!

1991 1800cc Mk1 Golf Clipper Cabrio

Ok guys…hopefully a simple question…VACUUM ADVANCE TUBE!

I am changing the head on my 1800cc Clipper/carb from the standard head to a GTi head.
I am of course doing the usual blanking of the injector holes etc etc…

My concerns are simple:

I will be throwing the standard airbox/air filter arrangement, as the DCOE has trumpets and sock type filters.
However, the airbox has the vacuum advance pipe going into it, where do I now put it?

If anyone else has done a similar conversion, and has any other tips/pitfalls, i'm all ears!!
Thanks guys

dont you mean the warm air feed pipe to the air box? if so its not required by the dcoe i guess. its there to stop carb icing, and if you dont have an oe airbox then you wont have a warm air feed no more, cap this off. or do you mean the vacuum advance to the dizzy? if so then you need this. when you plumb in your vacuum pipe to the brake servo make sure you keep the non-return valve with the nipples on, plumb one o those to the dizzy, sorted.

Hi, and thanks..
Definately the Vacuum advance pipe to the dizzy…the very small bore tube.
Currently plumbed into the airbox..
Just want to be sure where to plumb it, as the airbox is redundant with the DCOE weber.

Thanks..

Sorry to sound thick, but last email did not make any sense!

If I fit a single 40 DCOE sidedraught carb on a Lynx manifold, I cannot use the standard air box/filter assy, as its designed to fit a downdraught carb.
Therefore I have to remove it and basically throw it away.
40 DCOE has trumpets and Pipercross foam filter socks that are cable tied over the trumpets.

That's all cool and easy.
However….

It leaves the Vacuum advance pipe from the dizzy that was previously attached by a little push on pipe to the air filter box/assy, with nowhere to go.
So I just need to know where to attach the vacuum advance pipe so the dizzy works properly?

Thanks for your help.

like i said, it shouldnt be on the air box! it should be on the brake servo pipe.
so, put it where it belongs, problem solved ;)
