Screeching sound from tensioner

Hi. I had to replace the tensioner in a hurry…did so and it was quiet. I only replaced the tensioner because it was screeching, no I did not replace the bolt or the washer. Now after less than 10000km it's screeching again 5am in the morning  :banghead:
The Stealership recons I should replace the washer…any other ideas or has anyone ever experienced something similar?
Many thanks

Defenitely not a loose alternator/water pump belt?

Nope, checked that first. The belt and waterpump is new. I replaced the pump because it was leaking.

Either you've set the belt tension wrongly and ruined the new tensioner's bearing, or the tensioner was a cheap one and has failed prematurely. They are greased for their expected life internally and can't really be re-done, its greased then sealed in.

I used a Genuine VW Part from the Stealership. Checked the tension and longest distance between the two pulleys I can turn it as illustrated in the service manual. So the basics are correct so it must be something else.

Doesn't mean its not faulty……if its screeching, its faulty.

I would agree with you but it only screech when i start the Caddy and afterwards it fades away. Yes it might be worn out but in my mind less than 10 000km it should not be doing this therefore my question, if the tensioner is replaced, tension is correct but the bolt and washer is not, can this cause wear on the tensioner to the point where it starts to screech again?
