hi.

i replaced my rocker cover gasket recently and noticed as i removed one of the nuts, that the stud it came off was loose in the head.

not sure if this was like this before i undid the nut or not?!? you would think that it would all tighten up as you did up the nut over the rocker cover.
but i made sure i tightened it back into the head before refitting the gasket and rocker cover.

then i checked all the others. might be worth checking yours…

Sounds like the cover is warped. Get some good quality gasket sealer and smear a bead onto both surfaces before tightening.

Yeah ash ,I had that problem, and some sheared off too, so Ive replaced all the studs

Thanks Cero,Ive taken your advice and it seems to have done the trick…see what happens when I take it for a run

Thanks everyone

Leak

Mine is leaking from the side of rocker cover after I chnaged the head gasket as well! The oil is spraying onto the Cam belt and spraying all over the bonnet and drive shaft.
Would the gasket sealer also stop this from leaking please?

Thanks

missmatch of gasket & stud types can casue this. the early cork gasket is used with shouldered studs to prevent the gasket being overtightened. The rubber type has metal washers built into the gasket and studs have no shoulders.

I think you ought to consider changing your cambelt if it's contaminated with oil. You don't want that slipping off !
