Pooberg tuning

Post

Does anyone have a clue on how to lean up the pooberg 2e2 carb on my 1.8 8v auto ??

The bloody thing did £50 of fuel in 70 miles !!!!!!!!  O_o

Most range rovers are better on fuel than that. Any clues ??? It smells heavily of fuel there are no fuel leaks but the vac system is rubbish and the car will not idle when cold,it also has an annoying trait of running on 2 or 3 cylinders when cold for the first 1/4 mile !!! Bit of a pain also as I live at the bottom of a steep hill lol

Any ideas on this would be appreciated as this brother can't afford that amount of fuel !!

Holy sh!t I'd be lookin at an engine swap mpg like that it wud pay for itself in no time …

91Jreg Sportline (now gone) For now 88 Ereg Mk2 16v (monza blue ) (now its gone too)Numerous mk1 tintops I  should never have sold 😰  Oh and a TDI  Touran as a daily ….latest toy mk5 Gti (showing my age) had to go serious money pit ,now cruising a Caddy Van

I know the 1.8 auto was never great on mpg but this is mental.

I thought about doing a weber swap which I would guess helps as I can control the choke.

But I'm shy on funds with Christmas so just need to get it running a bit better, oil and filter and an air filter has been done so just wondering what next ???

sounds like its not a tuneup it needs but rather something has broken:

I am genuinely thinking of converting to Webber as it's driving me mad !!! This morning being slightly warmer the vehicle ran and idled okay - not great but a lot better. Until 15 mins into my drive then as I tried to pull away the car was trying to cut out !!! Not normally a problem on a manual but on an auto a bit scary !!!! Seems okay when driving at 60mph when on the motorway and okay if hammered a bit but 1500 rpm the engine stuttered and attempted to stall and did so once !!! It's never done this since I have owned it !!
