Pierburg to be or not to be.....!

My 1.6 auto A Reg Cab. About a 2 months a go had here tuned as consumption needed improving plus getting high on petrol fumes, and all seemed ok. He suggested I needed to replace vacuum hoses because of squashing/ Knackered.

So replaced them

I have by ear adjusted the air screw on top of carb!

Now I have car starting fine even when -4 degrees, drives perfect ……. for about 10 minutes/ 6 miles it starts to splutter looses power and have to pull over!
I have to sit in the car with engine off for a couple of minutes.
Start the car up and off we go no problem very responsive  :dontknow:

Could this be the flap warm/cold intake!
Where and how does the vaccum release when building up, as seems its not escaping !
 :dontknow:

Any Ideas ?

check the hose that goes to the exhaust manifold is there and intact.
pull the vacuum hose of the air intake flap. suck and see if you can make the flap move.
if not flap is ceased.
2 choices at this point.
remove the air intake flap and run a pipe straight from the inlet manifold to the pipe thats left. you can take it off in the summer and put it back in the winter.
fix the ceased flap so it works again.

i'd do the latter.

Proven method by me, is fit piece of carding behind left side of grill, this does stop cold air shooing up thus eliminating the carb freeze, i fitted mine 3 week back, and not one issue since in any cold wet weather, dont block whole front thou i.e dont cover the rad, just the gap between abit of rad and drivers headlight, it ends on mine at the v shape part underneath the bonnet catch and i have cable tied it, nice snug fit and car runs superb now, dont have to worry about going anywhere in cold weather on motorways
