Picked my new MK1 up yesterday and broke down on the M2!!

Hi All,

I'm new here. Yesterday I went to collect my new 1981 1.6diesel MK1 from Kent. I drove it all the way from Kent until just before the Dartford Tunnell where I broke down. The symtoms were loss of power although the engine was still idleing. Even when I was stopped still, the engine was not responding to revs. I left it 20 minutes and tried again and it would work fine until 500 yards down the road and it would happen again.

One other thing to mention was that the oil light came on for about 5 seconds while I was driving and the engine made a screeching noise which dissappeared along with the oil light.

Any Ideas????

Anyway, I ended up pulling over and forking out £250 for a tow back to Northampton. OUCH.

Thanks in Advance,
Ji:m

Hahaa, Aren't they all!

Can I ask which coilovers you are using on your Cabby and how much you've dropped her? I really like the stance!

To be totally honest I'm not sure what they are, I know they are right down, so I would say it's about 90 to 100 mm down,   The stance is perfect, it has a sticker but can only see the last letter and a capital k on them
