Ooops ... foreign body fallen into sump

The dipstick funnel had cracked on my Clipper, it had become very brittle after 20 years of heat/cold. I bought a new one for a couple of quid and finally got round to replacing it this evening.

Yanked the bottom half of the broken one off, but this still left a centimetre of inner sleeve sat inside the dipstick tube. I scratched my head thinking  how to get it out when I went into my fishing tackle box and grabbed a hook remover. Latched this to the bottom of the orange sleeve, and gradually began to slide it out. Just as it was about to fly out it broke into a number of pieces, it was very brittle as I said. Most of it flew out, but a piece about 5mm square dropped back into the dipstick hole and slid down into the sump.

Should I panic?

 :dontknow:

i think you should be alright

change the oil and see if it come out

if not take the sump off and remove it, not a big job to do, new gasket and oil :)

could be a chance to do a little service, oil, filter :)

Thanks for that rubjonny. I think I will risk it for a while, and get an oil change/service soon.
