Oil pressure

Oh for goodness sake :roll:

My oil pressure light blinked a few days ago. So I stopped and checked the level, which hasn't faltered.  Watched oil circulating up to the rocker box, so guessed it was the switch.  Been driving around with it like this a few days now with no ill effects.

Anyway it got temperamental - one time you start it it's on, the next it isn't.  So I've had enough and just put a new switch on the side of the cylinder head.  And now the light's flashing on all the time.

Having a mosey around under the bonnet, what's the one on top of the oil filter housing?  Do I have two oil pressure switches?

I suppose the next thing to do is to book it in and have the oil pressure tested - I don't have a tester.  Or is there a Heath Robinson way of testing, like turning it over a few times with your thumb over the pressure switch hole?

Anyone come across this before? - all comments very welcome.

yes you have 2 switches a high and a low pressure.

mines been flashing for years think its a short on the line.

Just looking at the wires, one's had a new bit fitted and the rest of it back to the loom has that 'I'm not flexible anymore - bend me if you dare' shiny/brittle look about it :roll:

How did you get round the problem in the end, have you replaced the wires. I seem to have this problem on mine, wouldn't mind getting it sorted somehow.

new sensors and a new wire though the loom is the best way. check the back of the bulb to see if the shorts at that end if not you need to get a special sticky plate made about 8mm X 8mm which can be carefully placed infront of the light so you cant see it.
