Oil Leak off the Sump

Post

Hi All,

I've a 1.8 Clipper, it is leaking quite heavily from around the sump, making me guess the sump gasket has gone.

My question is, is a new gasket likely to solve the issue, or is there likely to be something else bunged or blocked that has increased pressure and caused the leak?

Cheers

James

Probably just wear & tear on the gasket. When replacing also use some of the 'new' gasket sealing compounds that are now out there, I've found the Wurth sealants to be most effective.

Be careful using gasket sealant .  ..excess can break off inside the sump going straight into the oil pump pick up. …..starving the engine of oil.

Brill, thanks for the advice!

I've got Thursday off, so I'll have a crack at it then.
