Water leaking from water level sensor

I've got water pouring out from my water level sensor, taken it out and all looks ok, seal has no cracks or perishing, just wondering whether the threads on the sensor and and bottle are had it??? I just don't know, it's also my daily so I need to fix it quickly so I can get too work :(

change the sensor if the bottle looks good, watch out for pattern tanks i had a febi one it was rubbish sender wouldnt seal at all. in the end i just put the old one back on and it was fine!

MK2 golf pre-90 use the same tank if it helps, or you could use 90spec mk2 or mk3 with adaptations to the bracket. mk2 90spec bracket unbolts if it helps, on my mates car we cable tied it on in the short term and sorted the bracket later. chop plug off the donor and splice to old wires as different, or just bridge terminals or remove 42/43 relay to disable level sensor system

I had the same problem and I used a bit of PTFE tape around the sensor thread, plumbers use it to seal joints and I had some in the house already. The main problem is screwing in a plastic sensor into a plastic bottle and not over doing it but doing it up enough to seal it.
It worked fine but after a couple of years my bottle cracked as it was old so fitted a new bottle and sensor and it's been fine for the last 5 years.
