Need help on my carb setup!!!

Hey people,

IM running a 1.8 16v mk 2 engine with yamaha R1 carbs

I am looking for some kind of filter that will fit sall 4 of them but the problem i have is the space between them and the radiator……..=  very tiny space!!!!

Also due to the location of them my top water hose needs to be made out of silicone as today i blew a hole in it  :banghead:

Also is there any other types of radiator i can buy that is arrow yet as efficant as my standard one?

Please help

if you narrow  ure rad without doing  something else  it wont  dissapate the same  amount  of heat - you will need  to think about relocating a  smaller  add on rad or running a fan to suck air through it constantly  - ( which will no doubt ruin any gains  made by narrowing ure rad lol)

Nearly all radiators are oversized for the job so there may be a small amount of room for movement on sizes, but better to try and calculate the heat output of the engine on full throttle and see what size core youd need to effectively drop the temperature to a manageable level.
Dont forget, radiators also have to be large enough to cope with various conditions across the planet as these cars were shipped worldwide.
Much hotter in abu dhabi than say bracknell. :)

can u get any more room by puting your fan on the outside and fliping the conectors so it pushes air from the front instead of pulling from the back?

1457 gx, matalic green. 5 door.

ive been offerd a Alloy radiator wich came off the honda civic VTI ……the guy used it on his K-SERIES 1.8 16v on bike carb setup and he said it coooled the engine efficiant enough.

I am getting a electric fan for the front anyway but still need filters for my carbs………….ive seen them on everyones setup except mine……………were the heck do you buy them?

Try eurocarb, they do loads of filters, I have ones called "shower caps" that fit over my trumpets as I have the same problem of space, however mine is with the firewall!
Failing that, try looking for some bike ones, sure some one must do 'em for the bike they came off.
Good luck dude.

Projekt Frustration :

White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!

Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

ah yeh kool man i was given a number for a bike company in cornwall i can try.

Also i do have a problem regarding my throttle cable ….if you  look closely you can see the position it is at on the carbs…………resulting in the cable fraying badly , and made me break down tonight :(

I was thinking maybe making a bracket up for the front of the carb's and running the cable out that way then i eliminate any angles and fraying cable.

Cant you use a flat panel filter in a plenum type box fitted over all four carb inlets?
