my golf wont run propper pls help

hi all i have a 1.8 carb auto soft top mk1 golf and its been sat for 6mouths and ran on lpg for  5years i changed the carb, fuel tank and things like that
i got her running and after driving for ten mins it cut out and wouldnt start.
Ive changed the little black ecu thing from mk2 golf for the spark pack not the ecu as the mk1 is carb not injector and it runs my mk2 golf fine and the mk2 golf ran anyway so both are fine,just realy want her running but every time it gets hot it just cuts out in a instant any ideas the auto choke works fine i gess as it doesnt splutter and stop it just stops.

please please please any know wats wrong ive had the dub 1 month it was free,done some work mk2 dieing realy need this mk1 to work propper

I could be wrong, but I dont think running the ignition control unit (ICU)off a mk2 will marry up properly with the coil and the hall sender unit in the dizzy of a mk1. It maybe the ICU getting hot, try a mk1 ICU.
