Mk3 rocker cover?

Mk3 rocker cover?

i read in one of the golf+ mags that you can mk3 golf rocker cover gasket on a mk1 gti, is this true.
Does that mean a mk3 rocker cover will fit on my 1500cc engine as rocker cover for gti and 1500cc are the same size, and gaskets for mk3 and gti are the same meaning covers must fit each other.

Cheers Luke

Yes that's correct. Have just fitted a late type rubber gasket to my car.

Only problem running a mk3 rocker is the breater is on the left hand side if I remeber correctly.

Can you not turn it round, it being the same left/right and front/back?

If that makes sense?

also make sure you get a full rubber gasket conversion kit from VW, comes with the gasket and a set of new studs.

2.0 8v one is what you want

Do you need different parts to fit a rubber gasket as to a cork gasket

yep, you must replace all 8 studs with shoulderless ones. if you dont dso this it wont tighten down properly and it'll leak oil out everywhere!

yeah if you can get the mk3 ones out they'll do, trouble is 2 of them may not be long enough where the fuel swirl pot thing & airbox bracket bolts down at the front.  In fact that might be an issue fitting the rocker cover, the stock airbox & brackets might not fit on it, not 100% sure tho.

If you buy the upgrade kit from VW it includes the gasket and a set of new studs:

Ok Brilliant cheers jonny

I Haven't thought of that the mk3 rocker covers i think are taller so may be a problem with the standard air box.
Cheers again
