MK1 don't run?

Hello. My new purchase, golf cabrio -76 with FP engine, runs bad, engine hacks all the time, and after rotating    
distributor it won't start again, spark plugs go wet easily, and if it starts the car run's weakly and smokes black…
previous owner has installed an weber carburetor, but he said that the car run's bad with original carburetor too..
I have checked the timing marks, and they should be in place..I think :roll:  :roll:
Is there some diagram of timing marks in FP engine?
