Mistake

Hi,have I just made a mistake by using Mobil 1  0-40 synthetic oil. One cam follower is noisy but quietens down only to start again milage is 164K
It was noisy every now and then on the previous oil (unknown as Ive not had the car long) Is it worth using some kind of addative ie slick 50

0W-40 is still in the range of viscosity so it shouldn't damage the engine.

dont use slick 50 it will not solve your problem and can cause more problems. oil companies spent billions on the oil so an additive should not be needed.

yeah i wouldnt use an additive, mobil 1 is packed with them,

we only use mobil oil at work (own cars and trade cars)

i use a 10/40 in mine,  if your not comfortable using what you have now just change it to what you do want/ require

additives are problems mine played up for a while i got 10/40w in now runs smooth
might have had an exsisting problem and you just think its mobil oil

Thanks to you all i didnt realise you could get 10-40 mobil 1  my fault I guess as i thought the lower the vis the better.
