main jet sizes pierburg 2e2

Hi, i have swapped my 1.6 EW engine for a 1.8 JH engine.
I got all the parts from the old EW engine (Manifolds, carb, fuel pump, dizzy, flywheel+clutch, …) and blocked up the injector holes on the JH head with 020 gearbox pluggs.
Now im having a bit of trouble rejetting the main jets, ive got it running but i like to know ive got it right. The cars driving beautifully accept when im on low revs and accelerate it seems to struggle a bit to respond, and when i thrash it a bit its a little smokey, (it smells fuelly and oilly). I also get a bit of a bubbling sound from the carb after i turn the engine off. I know the EX engine is a 1.8 with carb, so if anyone has any idea what jet sizes the carb on this engine has, they should be about the right size right?

Please give me a bit of advice as i wouldnt like to wear out my engine due to over fueling.

Thank you guys very much. Ben

i got these from ETKA for 1.8 engine (golf mk2 but should be ok for you)
026 129 405 - main jet, 1st stage, 105
055 129 405 J - main jet, 2nd stage, 120
027 129 415 - idling jet, 42.5

is that any help at all?

ok, the jets i had fitted a while ago:
1st stage 112.5
2nd stage 130
idling jet 42.5

The problem was exhaust fumes smell a bit fuelly, spark pluggs are black and when you put your foot down it seems to die a little nd then starts accelerating. Then when you ease off the gas pedal a bit, you would feel a bit more power.

I fitted the 105 nd 120 jets but it seems to be worse, i dont understand as it seemed to be overfueling before.

any other ideas? maybe its not the jets.
I think my valve seals need changing cause it puffs a little cloud of blue smoke out sometimes, would that effect it?

maybe fuel pump? float level?, ive also had to cancel the inlet manifold cooling circuit as the head wasnt compatible but the carb is all connected.

ah, thats a big no-no on a 2e2 as it needs coolant flow to switch off the autochoke and waxstat, unless you mean you piped a coolant feed from somewhere else?

the carb has all the coolant conections connected, it gets hot, choke goes off, revs come down. Its only the manifold i canceled

ah ok thats fine then. seems like some other carby issue, best to go thru the 2e2 faq from end to end i think. from your symptoms maybe the vac unit for the 2nd butterfly isnt working?
