Loosing Revs and Exhaust Spluttering - 1.8 Weber

Help!

In the last week I've been having problems with my car running rough, it started as a problem which occured when pulling away, revs would build up to the biting point and I'd start to move then it would loosee all reves and I'd have to floor the accelerator and pump it to get revs to pull away. My idling revs have droped to a spluttery 500-750 and the only way for me to drive it is to constantly have the coke out an inch, at low speeds I need the choke all the way out!

Ive changed the dizzy cap, taken the fuel filter off and blown through it to remove any crap but none of this has helped.

Please help,
Thanks Stuart.

Sounds like fuel starvation to me. The fuel tank pick up pipe filter can become blocked I am told. Also old rubber fuel pipes can swell internally or break down and collapse with age without it being obvious.

Cheers guys, so far changed the spark leads, plugs, distributor rotor arm and the only thing that made a difference was changing the ignition coil which gave one and a half blissfull days of smooth no-kangaroo no-loss-of-revs-on-pulling-away driving!

The connectors to the coil were badly corroded, does this give anyone any clue?? Please!

Hi, Ive changed in-line fuel filter, cleaned out tank and its still spluttering and misses when I try flooring it, but sounds fine when gently accelerating. Fuels coming through fine coz i disconnected fuel line from pump to carb and its coming through enough. Any other ideas, Im thinking of doing a compression test, do you think this will help?
