Late MK1 Cabriolet 1.8 8v Twin 40's
I have found a full carb kit on ebay and was wondering if the inlet manifold would fit my 1991 MK1 Golf Cabriolet 1.8 8v engine or not?????
Also am wondering if the carbs will fit in the engine bay????
Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140017084321
Thanks, Matt

have u done any other mods? why not go for a fast road cam, 4-2-1 manifold with a matching exhaust system u would see great improvements with this and a weber replacment carb would also be a good option to get rid of the unreliable pierburg system u would have.

Do you fink that if i wraped the exhaust manifold in heat wrap it would help?
I was also going to be puttin a fast road cam and 4 branch in there.
Do you fink that ?2000 would be enough cash 4 all these mods including setting it all up?

heat wrap will helpu out a lil bit but its EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! overpriced if u ask me. u will aslo benfit from having some cold air ducting going to them too.
i would personaly go for weber 45's or dellortos 45's as you can always choke these down to 40's if its to much, but u cant choke 40's up to 45's if you know what i mean. and you will alsi need the linkage kit to make both carbs open at the same time and a electric fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator with a return feed back to the tank. (filter king or malpossi do these)
hope that helps

im going for the carb route i had carbs on my old engine and i loved them, nice throaty noise and are more tunable and simple compared to injection in my opinon, at the minute im doing a 2litre block with compertition head and cam gti gearbox and wil be running on carbs 45's i will have the same problem as you where they will be getting heat from the exhaust, because im using it for track im tempting on having a bonnet made up with vents in it out of carbon fibre with lots of cold air ducting.
any questions just give me a shout and ill try and point u in the right direction matey after all two heads are better then one!
