Jets for a 1.5 with single 40 DCOE

Need help to find "starting" jets for the JB.

My Golf is a 1983 1.5 auto, and since I bought it in 2009 it's been running rough. And I never really got time to fix it.

Lately I’ve been looking for a 36 TLP, but they never come up for sale when I'm looking. I see a pattern were I find a new sales post, it's always a week after their been sold. Also been looking for a 1.6 intake so I can run a re-jetted DMTL, but doesn't really find them at eBay or forums. And I don't like the adapter from 2 to 4 stud.

But I've got a single Weber 8v intake manifold, and a DCOE 40 at my shelf that I'm not using. The intake is brand new, and the weber looks all right, and told from past owner was running good (could be bullshit!). Think it was out of a Alfa, can't remember what nr the Weber is, but I can find out if it helps choosing jets.

To put it in the car I only need a few smaller things like seals and a fuel banjo. It would be less expensive than buying a new intake and a DMTL. But I need to re-jet it. I see the question pops up plenty of times at the forums, but all I find in the search is duals, not single. So I've got to seek some help. Anyone with an ide on what jets I'll need for my little 1.5 in stock form? To get it started and give me some useful data if I need to change something before I take it to a rolling road at a carbs specialist.

Thanks a lot!

4pc flares, 2pc duckbill and grilltrim wanted!

I can't tell you what size jets to use, but I do remember a thread on VWVortex about a guy who swapped a really knackered old 1b3 for a single 40 on his JB.
If I find the thread I'll post it up…
