inlet manifold freeze/core plug size?

Post

Ok so I'm new here and my knowledge is even newer. I recently acquired an 86 1.6 caddy with a pierburgh carb. Its got a few holes in the body but that will be fixed soon, my main concern is the hole in the inlet manifold.

On the drivers side of the inlet manifold are 2 holes about the size of a penny one seems blocked off however the one to the rear lets water out quicker than I can put it in;  my limited knowledge says freeze plug but after a 10 min chat with the dealership he says its discontinued.  I've had a good look around the Internet but just cannot find out what size its supposed to be.

Am I looking for the right thing? Is it available anywhere?  What size is it? Can I just weld a penny in place without blowing myself up?

Cheers in advance and hi all!

There should be water going around the inlet manifold, it goes in the passengers side loops round on to the drivers side either throught the carb if the have a pierburgh or via a by pass hose if a webber is fitted.
Are you sure you don't have a webber carb?

Pic of webber carb by pass on drivers side of inlet manifold, I don't have any pics of the other side, I'll try and get some of where the water pipes go.

Yeah its a pierburg, I'm aware the manifold has the coolant channel going through and this seems to be working correctly, I've looked through the trouble shooting thread and I can see in the diagrams the part I'm after but cannot find reference to the size.

Ok so in the pic you can see 2 holes in the inlet manifold slightly hidden behind the accelerator cam? The pic is taken from the drivers side so the rear one is the one furthest left in the pic. I may still be wrong but im sure its supposed to be blocked as by my understanding the water comes in via the head and out via the hose on the passenger side

your dealer is blind, the parts are still available! I can see 2 listed:
N  011 903 4 - 0.43+VAT
N  011 904 7 - 0.39+VAT

there is a remark on the first one '16' and 2nd '18' I'd assume thats the diameter? doesnt say which is fitted, but the 18mm is listed for mk2 only so id assume thats later part, 16 is early

Thank you very much. I'll go back with part numbers. I do have it filled with aluminium putty at the moment which is holding if anyone is stuck in future. I will however be ordering the correct parts today though.

Thank you!

Hi I think I now have the same issue as you had. Can you provide any pics of what you did in the ebd ? And where you got the parts from !?  Thanks
