The other link is for GTI version mk1's so not to confuse you and you trying to look for things that don't exsist on your carb'd model, here's other link bud

check your filler neck for rust, if it has it would have made it's way through the lines etc, but you have replaced these.
so just filler neck and tank, plus which i found and a few members here was replace the fuel/vapour separator which is held on by 2 10mm nuts on the rocker cover, it faces the front of block, if this is blocked due to rust getting through which it sounds like it maybe, it will give those symptoms.
I had this on mine, and i replaced my separator and all good, i find that some people have chosen to remove the vapour separator and go direct to fuel tank lines and carb, NOT GOOD as the crap from the tank now goes straight into the carb.
Last and not least the fuel pump itself, located directly underneath the vapour separator i mentioned, this also has a filter and also gets blocked and resticts certain amount of fuel getting through.
If you have gone the lengths of changing fuel lines, you might aswell replace these.
Then if it continues the issue is with carb itself as there are no other things to cause that type of problem you describe.
I have posted pics of my block before and after as these are only clear pics of block i have to show you the parts i mean bud.
Any other questions don't hesitate to ask
Pete

The in line filters should pick up the crud. I`m not sure that a vapour seperator has a filter (I may be wrong)
Could be the blocked pickup filter in the tank, old collapsed fuel lines (rubber) or the in line filter.
