How easy to fit mk2 EZ engine into Mk1?

I've just got hold of a recon engine coded as an EZ so its a Mk2 1.6 carb. How easy is this to fit into my 1982 Mk1 1.5 GL? Any parts need to be modified. Also will a gearbox off a Scirocco 1.6 FR coded engine fit straight on? Any help gratefully received!

I think EZ engine is almost identical to the 1.5, so will go straight in. The dizzy might differ, but I'd use the EZ dizzy instead of the 1.5s. The gearbox should go straight on too, but the FR is a close ratio 5 speed. Check the guide on the left to make sure you're happy with the resultant gear ratio in 5th, not sure on your existing gearbox so unsure how they compare. If its 5 speed then you'll need some of the linkage too, and the steering rack (there is a bracket on there, if you can weld then you can move/fab the existing bracket on the existing rack) - or is your car a 5 speed at the moment anyway?

Car currently has the FR engine in with a 1.5 head on! The gearbox is a five speed.

Use your exsisting gearbox and slap engine in, you'll have no worries bud
