High Revs on starting from cold.

Hi Guys,

Have a quick question.

When I start my 1990 Cabi she revs upto about 2500 and as she gets warmer she hits almost 3500 then after about 5 mins she will then drop back to just over 1000.

I will prob answer myself and say its the auto choke, but what does anyone else think.

Cheers

Chris

Yes  probably the autochoke there is a wax stat that brings the revs down once the engine warms up, don't think mine goes up to 3500 though.

have a read of the 2e2 faq post chap, this issue can be caused by a failed coolant channel o'ring in the inlet manifold. causes both the autochoke and waxstat to fail. also check the 3/4 point unit is retracting to the running position when engine fired, if not vac hose issue or the electrical gubbins round the back not working. often caused by blown engine electrics fuse
