High reving 1.8 carb

My 1.8 carb engine is reving high at the moment, anything between 15-2500 rpm on idle. Its only started doin gthis 3 days ago and its starting to get annoying.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers, JT

I'm no carb expert but if you have auto-choke, guess it's down to this? Had this years ago on a 1.5 carb. During warm up was pulling 2500 rpm which meant breaking was hard if you didn't drop the clutch!

I forget though what the fix is? Have you done a search of the forum?

Did the garage not say what had been wrong with it?

the wax stat is what controls the autochoke i think, it works likea thermo stat expands when hot,

get a hanes book, see what bit it is. take it off and throw it in a pan of water, heat the water see if it works, if it expands then im wrong and im sorry, if it doesnt expand then buy a new one!
