Hi, can anyone help with my engine running on problem?

Hi, i have just bought a 92 1.8 carb mk1 cab, everytime i turn off the ignition the engine splutters and runs on! can anyone help me with this problem please?  :dontknow:

you need to get your ignition timing checked. too far advanced.

What's your engine code?

Hi, sorry bit new to golf's, where do i find the engine number?   ops: many thanks for the help.

Easiest place to look is on your log book :wink:   Will have 2 letters followed by some numbers, just post up the letters.

Could also be a vacuum hose leaking, carb base block split etc, check em all for splits, especially where they connect.
