Help wanted in spalding LINCS.

Post

Hi, I have a big ask ( that's ask!!!) is there any one in LINCS or NORFOLK that could give up a couple of hours and give me a hand to check all my timing and do a cambelt change, I'm well handy with the scanners but lack the confidence to sort the job, and like so many of us I have totally over spent on the resto of my 82 1.5gl cabrio,so don't have the money to get done properly. I'm a smart repairer by trade so would happily do a trade . Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi Libbi

I help run Lincs region but sadly all of our members active in the region seem to be around Newark/Lincoln area.

Have you done a search here or on google generally? I'm sure I've seen a how-to thread with pics on a cambelt change.

It really wont be tough for you, just be methodical. I find when I'm bricking it about doing a job like this, just search loads here and on the net, ask any questions here before or during the job if you get stuck and all should be good.

The most important part is to make sure all the timing marks are lined up for doing the job, then should be ok.

Have you got a Haynes manual?

Hi thanks for the reply, just a bit overwhelmed, as we all are, by the amount of work I  have had to do on my 82 cab, just lost a bit of faith. No workshop manual, so suppose that would be a good place to start. Really want to get this sorted by the end of March to take up to the t4 show in Lincoln, but still got tons to do.

I know that feeling!!

I could scan and email the pages of my Haynes for cambelt if you need, but for the few quid it's worth buying one anyway, it's amazing how useful it can be.

Oh cool. Has it taken away any of the nerves about doing the job?
