HELP!!!need advice newbie

guys this 1.5 gl just wont start properly?
so far ive checked all leads plugs new fuel,
it ignites and runs rough for a abou 10 secs dies,try again its doing the same some times shooting flames out carb??
wtf am i doing wrong?
correct me if im wrong but at tdc which is roughly 3O'clock postion i then looked at gearbox white dot at 12 oclock this shoud determine no1 on dizzy?
