Help carb trouble, easy conversion need

Post

Hi all, what is the easiest conversion, I have a 1.8 clipper (carb  engine) it has had a new weber carb which was great a first, then one day started to misfire / judder under acceleration. I have changed plugs, leads, ignition control module, coil, had the timing reset and spent another couple of hundred at garages just for the fault to come back. Thing I need a conversion, what would be a easy DIY one?

Right, if it's not the lines then I maybe able to help. had a similar problem with mine from day 1 of buying it- ran ok for a while (with a weber replacement),then hesititration under load and thought it was the tank. This is common with rust as many are aware so changed it, the lines and the filters. Still issues so I did the coil, hts etc and no joy and then even went back to look at the fuel supply as it definitely wasn't electrical and a fuel starvation issue- did the vapour seperator twice and tried both mechanical and electric pumps- no joy. Went into the garage many times but to no success and then decided to have a go or get rid. Stumbled across this:

Basically the fuel lock under load seems (it's been running ever since…) to be down to the return feed so removed the vapour seperator all together, added a welding tip into the line and it's driving well for the last 2 months….shame the weathers now shocking but will look forward to next years sun.
Maybe completely unrelated to your issue but thought it may help you should you need to explore- hope it helps.

Also check the rubber mount that the carb sits on, run the car and try moving the carb about to see if it makes any difference to the running. What happens the rubber splits and lets air in so the fuel mixture is to weak.

Looks like this, GSF Euro etc also sell them
