heating only working in gear 4 and 5 - advice please?

Hi,

I have changed the heater switch but still heater only works when I'm going in 4th and 5th gear. What could this be or what should I check next? Thanks

hi I think actually heat does not start to come up until engine is hot, but then also if im in traffic and engine ideling no heat is produced, heating only works if driving at 20+rpm
any ideas?

the heating works off the coolant temp so the engine needs to warm up before you start getting heat

does the heat fan work?

It might be that the thermostat has stuck open so the car takes ages to warm up?

Hi, it seems to work for a bit when switched on to stage 1 but then it stops also now it doesn't seem to even start anymore but car still gets warm when over 20rPm, how can I check if it works or what should I check now?

When you say heating do you mean the blower fan?

how can I check if the heat fan works? when i turn on the heating it used to make a noise that sounded like a van but that's not there anymore most of the time

How you check if the fan works, is by the obvious - air blowing out the vents.

Sounded like a van? You mean like a Transit van? Or a typo, and you meant "fan"?

When you turn your heater blower switch on with just your ignition on and car not running does it make a blowing noise ?

not it doesn't make that noise anymore, used to for a bit at the start but no stopped, I had the heater switch changed but same thing happened it starts off making a noise sometimes and then just stops

When the heater fan stops, try all other electrical items and let us know what also stops working too.

Have you checked under your bonnet and made sure your heater blower is not blocked with leaves and stuff ?

will check these things out, re checking all electrical things - does that mean all switches n stuff in the dashboard? my wipers only have only one speed but that was from the start and heating was working before
