gearbox flange rattle, should i put the springs in

Marker #1286139

My 2 gearbox flanges cups that ive had on my car that hold the drive shafts have a 5mm play/wobble , witch causes rattling when going over small bumps which Im intending to fix next time i take my gearbox off this summer but i want someone on here to say if installing the springs in there is %100 a good idea cause my 1.8 gearbox didnt have them in when i got the car?  so i actually dont know if i should try putting the springs in to stop the rattle.

crazy quiffs kindly sent me some sent me 2 springs with some seals i bought when i was replacing oil seals but I woundered if the springs would cause a problem in the diff?? looked to big and looked like they would pop the oils seals out or break the circlip. I just want to know if any one has installed these before please

I know that the two springs go some gearboxes clearly but do they go in mine?

if the seals had alot of force on them and to have them pushed right on to the gbox cups wouldnt is cause faster seal wearing causeing faster leaking probs or mash up anything? just not 100 percent sure

The reason i never attempted to install the springs was because the old gearbox i took off never had them in and when i brought the replacent 2nd hand box there were no springs in the new box either?

http://www.mk1vw.info/modules.php?name=Tutorials&op=viewtut&id=69 this site has what im talking about about half way down,

Has anyone reinstalled the springs in a box before and know what the crack is with them wether i should install them or not CAN THEY CAUSE PROBLEMS?

P.s ive got a tool to clamp the flange to seal to spring

and i am missing 1 metal springholder  if anyones got one cause i am hoping the springs are the way to go??

Cheers
