Has anybody used or heard of 'VEGE' engines?!

I am thinking about buying a reconditioned 'VEGE' engine, but I am wary as I have not heard it mentioned much.

Can anybody vouch for them, or tell me what they think they are like?

Alternatively, can anybody name me somewhere that I can buy a reconditioned mk1 1.8 8v golf gti engine?

VEGE are good engines,good guarantee,well built,they have a good name and will do you well,they are not cheap,but i would buy one!

vege have been around for years, i think engine will probably cost ?1000 inc vat . they have a depot here in chesterfield so if you need any help accomodation ect let me know. or scouse has second- hand engines for sale.

Yep, VEGE have a very good reputation for quality engines.

However, I tried to contact them about a cylinder head replacement for my Campaign. They never responded - eventually found a UK stockist who after a week came back and said they were discontinued :dontknow:
