Gasket needed for Head Mounted thermoswitch - EX Engine
Hi Guys,
I've got a serious coolant leak coming from what I think is a thermoswitch, mounted on the front verticle face of the head on an EX 1.8 carb engine. This switch has cooland hoses running to various places and a couple of electrical connectors.
Any idea where I can get a gasket for this, I've tried the usual suspects but no joy and I'm not entirely sure of whether "thermoswitch" is the correct name for it - which might explain why I can't find a gasket for it.
Bring back aircooled engines, all is forgiven!!

Hi
Is this a black plastic piece that bolts to the front of the block, which has a Brown and Grey electrical switch on the top, and a Black one on the bottom? If it is you need the following:
1 x 037121132B - Temp sender flange
1 x 037121687 - O-ring for above
As you can see from my pic of a broken and new part side by side the plastic that holds the o'ring in place has broken away meaning that the o'ring would not seal properly p1ssing the coolant all over the front of the block.
Im pretty sure I have spares of these parts at home, ill have a look-see tonight for you.
Cheers
Steve

Glad to help.
Make sure you keep a close eye on your fluid level after changing the flange as this was the start of me chasing leaks all around the system, every time I fixed a leak the pressure found another weak spot. Water pump, thermostat housing, radiator thermoswitch, coolant channel o-ring, bottle cap have all failed on mine. All parts are cheap, just annoying!
I do have a spare flange, but unfortunately its off a different engine.
Good luck

Thanks again.
