Fuel Starvation?
Hi all, i've recently replaced a leaky diaphragm on my weber carb, got a new fuel pump as the old one was goosed, changed the points rotor arm, dizzy, leads and plugs, also got a new fuel filter. The car starts on the key, idles perfectly, but under hard accelleration it seems to stutter, and on the motorway at constant speeds. Is this signs of s@*t in the petrol tank? There doesnt seem to be a constant stream of fuel in the filter…
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Crisis averted. Seems i forgot to screw in a jet in the carb. Duhhhhhhhh

mine had a problem found that by blocking off the return to tank pipe on the fuel reservoir cured problem

clean out the breather holes, they are on the filler neck normally piped into the rear arch behind the plastic cover. sounds like you are pulling a vacuum in the tank. (note it also breaths though the cap to some extent normally so give that a clean too)

My clipper (webber) started doing this yesterday . I've checked the jets on tank under the seat and all clear. Ive checked the fuel pump and all is good. there's power coming from the coil. Although I've read that under load the coil may not be supplying enough power but it doesn't feel like electrical is this still a possibility with a good meter reading from live terminals and earth??? .it seems also to be running rich and smells very fuelly. It starts great and idles great but underload it looses power and if I keep foot planted it eventually grinds to a hold. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss.

I have similar problem. Mine smells as if it is running rich as well. Definately appears to be fuel staravation. Nothing wrong in tank. Have you had any joy yet. Would like to plug mine into a Crypton tuner but don't know if garages do that any more.

get down halfdords and buy yourself a strobe and a gas analyser, that'll tell you everything you need to know.
