fuel pump query

hi been out in the cabby and it started to splutter and die , it then takes a while to restart and as soon as it does i got about 1/4 - 1/2 m up the road and it dies again , if i resart it after waiting a while it fires then does it again further up the road .
called rac and he said its the fuel pump after tinkering with the carb first . there is air in the fuel lines and he said hardly any suction when he put his finger on the pump .
does this sound right and if so will i need to reset the tickover etc on the carb

could well be, cheap and easy to replace. change the fuel filter and rubber lines while you're there. check filler neck for rust if there is any your tank probably wont be very pretty inside there is a guide on how to clean t in how2 section.

probably wont need to adjust anything once problem is fixed

got a recept for a new filler neck last year

alright cool that tells you the old one was bad. if so then you could still have crud in your tank so have a look see

changed pump and its now fine

took it out for a long drive today , 9miles in it did it again . just ordered a fuel seperator off ebay so hope that works

dont be fooled, just becasue its getting warmer doesnt mean you wont get carb icing! its worse when damp out, which coincidentally it has been very recently

found out the pipe in the tank had half its holes bunged up , so cleaned them out , will have to do the tank at some point but hopefully that will sort it for now
