Engine - what's it from?

Recently bought a project and this is the engine in it, from what I can tell its an audi 80 2.0l engine with scirocco/golf gti auxilleries?  Is that right?

The block has 2.0 on it, realise I need some better pics!

Cars originally a golf C, but the parts look like gti parts, so chances are there's 3-4 different engine components in there!

Nope, pulling that all out soonish, got a 1.8t AGU to plomp in.  Will setup a classified ad for all the parts once got it out.

Engine number will tell you exactly what kind of engine it is. Don't rely on the 2.0 casting on the block - it doesn't mean its a 2.0 litre engine.

if the 2.0 you saw was huge and on the back then its a 2.0. the block breather on the front is a givaway that its a 2.0 and since its metal its an earlier block so not mk3 era

to know for sure though check the code as paul says
