Engine conversion - Advice required

Hi

I have a 1982 1.5 auto cabby. The engine & box is about shot and I think I might have found a donor car in the form of a 1987 mk2 golf 1.8 GL auto.

Does anyone know how easy this conversion is, does it fit on existing mounts etc or is it more trouble than its worth ??

take old one out drop new one in. job done pretty much

same block. same ancileries. dope_as did it with his gl.

engine fits on same mounts. gear linkage is the same (assuming 5 speed) same wiring but make sure you mark your wiring up. even uses the same rad.
