My engine although drives well looks very tired and dirty i thought about a jet wash but several people have told me horror stories re doing this. There is rust on the various parts not loads but it just looks scruffy. A fellow enthusiast told me yesterday engine oil if brushed all over the parts will disguise the rust.
Any solutions welcome
Cheers

I've jet washed mine with a Karcher and no problems.
Cover up the electrical bits though. Try not to jet as brittle plastic parts and be careful
Otherwise some Trafffic Film Remover or Gunk Engine Degreaser, a toothbrush and lots of elbow grease is an alternative. Makes your back ache though
Actually you'll probably end up doing both.
A small paint brush and some black enamal paint can then be used.
Won't be perfect like stripping the engine out and doing it properly but it'll be a lot better than it is now.
Enjoy!

I always use a jetwash on a new car to see what's under the grime and never had an issue.
Get some degreaser, spray all ove ran dleave for 30mins then jet wash. Make sure you can start up after and run for 20mins to heat up and dry everything out. Don't leave it wet.
