Dodgy Starting

Hi was wondering if anybody can shed some light on this:

when startin my car 90% of the time it starts great but there are a few times when i turn the key you can hear like a clicking noise, one click) like the engine is being lazy type thing, or dragging, it does this for a few times then the engine fires up. This has only started happening since the timing belt has been changed, is this a coincidence? or do I have new problem to solve lol :banghead:

no probs normally if it isnt a starter its a dodgy connection somewhere i had it and it turned out to be the earth lead where it connects to the gearbox

I see, the earth thing makes sense cause I had a problem with the linkage a couple of weeks ago so maybe it has been knocked so il check that out xx

The easiest way is to attach a jump lead from the negative terminal on the battery to the body of the starter when your problem occurs and if it cures the problem then its definately the earth.

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!
