Desperate help needed carb trouble!!!!

Hi,i have the dreaded pierburg 2e2 carb on my 1986 cabby, with the constant high reving even when fully warm about 2000rpm,i have replaced all damaged vacuum hoses and removed carb and checked it all over and cleaned, actually seems a bit worse after refitting!!! my first question is where is the idle screw? :banghead:  i cannot find it anywhere,i read a post somewhere that said it was behind the manifold and you need a 7mm spanner, surely the idle screw is on the carb itself?please can someone tell me where it is or post a picture, and secondly i do have a weber but am waiting for some adaptor plates, where do the water hoses go once you remove the pierburg as there isn't anywhere for them to go on a weber?the choke also looks a bit of a nightmare how does it fit on an where do the plates go.

first pictures where do these go once removed?
second picture where do these fit?

OK, lets get going bud, hope this info is of use to you fella
May i apologise to the admin and mods for the big size of pics, i just want to make sure pics are easily viewable

First is location of the idle screw on the pierburg 2e2, see diagram

As regards to the water pipe conversion when fitting a weber, i take it you either have a 1.6 or 1.8 engine.
Here are pics from my mk2 which is the same block, just get yourself one long pipe which will reach from one end to the other

The choke cable pull goes here

There will be a blanking plate at the moment on your golf, remove the undertray on drivers side and then get right underneath with a phillips screwdriver, on the rear of blanking plate there is a screw which you just unscrew and then remove plate, there is now an hole where you will feed the choke cable through and then continue the cable throught to the bulkhead, it will end up coming throught here in the engine bay

As mine is an SA import it already has a manual choke kiehin carb, i would llike to point out that my choke cable comes out of the bulkhead and ends up on the left of the carb, whereas on the weber when you feed cable from bulkhead bring it from the left of carb and underneath air filter housing and it will end up on the right of the weber, simply connect and adjust cable

Lastly as regards to the plates you show, they are not needed, i have fitted 10 plus webers on golfs, with choke cable there is a washer and nut, just make sure you tighten nut and away you go fella.
if there is anything you think i have not covered dont hesitate to ask, also depending on where you are i could help fit it for you fella for no cost to you
best wishes bud
