Correct procedure for ignition on (lights)

Hi just completed a service on a newly aquired Golf Cabrio 1.8 carb, and something I never noticed before happened after, when I turn the ignition on the coolant light flashes and the oil light flashes, is this normal as the other light that comes on just lights up, they all go off when i start the car but as i've also just changed the oil pressure switch and the coolant temp sender i thought i'd double check…
