Cold start problem

Please help.

I have a 92 1.8 clipper with a pierburg carb.

Runs fine when warm but will not idle when cold unless I keep the revs up with the accelerator. Possibly auto choke?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Could the autochoke; maybe open it up and check the spring is connected to the pin inside the choke housing.
Also check the vacuum pipes; can often cause this sort of problem; check to see they're all connected correctly and spray wd40 while running to see if the idling changes at all.
For that matter how is your idle once warm?

Hi,

i had the same problem. mine was the inlet manifold o'ring and bad waxstat.

for the o'ring just check out the FAQ at the top of this forum. you need some long thin extension bits as some of two of the bolts are in very tricky spots.
