Clipper cabrio wont start

how do,

I recently acquired a mk1 golf clipper cabrio, drove it back from buying it fine, however i left it standing for a few weeks then changed the rocker cover gasket, after putting it all back together it wont start, its getting fuel but there is no spark from the plugs, i have checked the resistance of the coil both primary and secondary. According to my info primary resistance should be between 1.7 to 2.1 ohms and the secondary between 7000 to 12000 ohms, anyone know if these numbers are correct because the primary resistance is only 0.8 ohms if so could this be why its not starting?

Sorry for the long post but its annoying me!!!

No sure about the coil resistance, but did you put the rocker cover earth back on? It's attached to one of the rear studs and can cause problems if not refitted.

Sounds like you've knocked off a wire to the coil, in the process; or possibly not reconnected an earth somewhere.

Figured its an earth problem but all earth wires are connected and didnt go anywhere near the coil to knock a wire off (I dont think) i did notice that there was a wire from the back of the coil (attached to the bracket) i presume that is the rocker cover earth?

See the timing guide I just did for the rocker cover earth

Can you get a photo of your coil wiring up?

Right got it started now, moved the earth wire to a different position to get a better earth, had a play with the ignition timing and it started on the first turn of the key.
