Changing the carb

Guys - I have a 82 1.5 gl that has the rubbish carb, I want to replace it with a weber version but am I restricting to one for a mk1 golf or will carbs from other models fit (mk2, scirocco etc)????

Oh and if anyone knows of any for sale please let me know.

Cheers

as far as i have been able to work out there sint a replacement available from a vw. apparently the 1b3 carb was replaced by the weber 36 tlp which is found on 1.6 citroen bx's and peugeot 309s. Still havent been able to find out if its simple to fot though

I've got the same problem with my 1.5GL cabrio. I found out the engines a 1.6 scirocco but its still got the 1.5 carb and inlet manifold on and was wired up by a fool! I've got a Weber 32/34DMTL and Mk2 manifold sat in the workshop for it then found out the head is different- no extra port for water cooling so may change the head next!
Your right about the Carbs, they were on Citroens and 309's have a look in the scarppie of save a search on ebay. I have seen these come up for about ?30.
