Carb Engine swap for a 1.8 8v gti k-jet
Hi
I am seriously thinking of swapping my 1.8 carb for a 1.8 gti k-jet, I know you will all be saying go 16v but i have got a chance of getting a complete car for my donor.
I know the engine will go straight in with no messing with the mounts but its the wiring that is making me think is it easy enough to splice the looms together and what will need to be spliced??
im sure i will have other questions on this but cant think at the moment
thanks in advance
Sean

do you want to convert the car to k-jet, or are you happy running it on with the old carby?

ok you'll need a lot more parts to make it work, you'll need the fuel pump, accumulator and fuel lines front to back, the engine loom, all the bits along with the basic engine block.
you'll need to change the fuel tank or fit a later cab/scirocco/mk3 polo lifter pump and under car reservoir
you also need to get power to the pump, either by changign the rear car loom or splicing in your pump power wires.
its not too difficult but it will take you a couple weekends work as long as you dont hit into any problems.
