Blowing cold air!

This morning, front winscreen on my cabrio is blowing warm, but on the sides it is blowing cold? My fingers are blue, any ideas?

I dunno bout all MK1's but this was a "design feature" on the cabriolets!

It is always cold air coming out. Guess if you took the dash out you could connect it up to the warm supply some hoe but you would lose the power of the air.

The design of the heater is so that you direct air straight through the dash on the two side vents, by moving the two controls to the centre (where there are symbols depicting the two side vents), or you move the two controls away from the centre to direct (heated) air to your feet or the windscreen.
There's no need for the side vents to have hot air in them, if you want hot air,  close the side vents and use the foot/windsceen vents.

Also, has everyone noticed the "quick-start guide" for defogging the windscreen? - it's the symbol printed above the heater fan knob, showing all controls to the right-hand side, and the fan on speed 2. - who needs an owner's manual when it's printed right there for you?

Also, remember that you can close off all outside air, by moving the two direction controls to the centre, and closing the side vents' wheels - ideal for passing pig-farms     or following other cars on dusty roads  8)

Your lucky to have a fan!

Some of mine being early ones air comes from the vents directly from the engine compartment and a "bin lid" controls air flow to the windscreen and footwells!!

My citigolf has a/c and the outer vents are ice cold, and there is a couple of vents in the middle of the dash which are also ice cold, the footwell and windscreen are the only 2 hot air openings.
Bert
P.s the center vents were added by the factory when a/c was fitted not as standard.

Thats not a rod knockin, its a diesel stupid! floppy top and 1 tin top
