It is always cold air coming out. Guess if you took the dash out you could connect it up to the warm supply some hoe but you would lose the power of the air.

There's no need for the side vents to have hot air in them, if you want hot air, close the side vents and use the foot/windsceen vents.
Also, has everyone noticed the "quick-start guide" for defogging the windscreen? - it's the symbol printed above the heater fan knob, showing all controls to the right-hand side, and the fan on speed 2. - who needs an owner's manual when it's printed right there for you?
Also, remember that you can close off all outside air, by moving the two direction controls to the centre, and closing the side vents' wheels - ideal for passing pig-farms or following other cars on dusty roads 8)

P.s the center vents were added by the factory when a/c was fitted not as standard.
