Blow through turbo setup on a 1.8 carb.

Post

I've recently decided to keep the stock engine in my MK1 for another year, before switching it out, probably for a 20vT.

But for now, I'd like to have some fun with it.. I'm not masssively clued up on engines in general, especially not blow through turbo setups, and after researching them, I'm still not sure whether it's a realistic option.
At the moment the car does have a few mods, stainless exhaust, lightened flywheel, weber carb..

I've also come across this 1272cc MK1 Scirocco which has a blow through setup. This is what got me thinking it could be do-able.

I'm not even sure there is room for such a setup in the bay.. I'm just bored in work and my mind is wandering.

iirc fords were good donors for this as they had a few with carb turbos, but no idea how common they were or are now

Yeah I'd read this too, but not found much info on what models use them.
Am I right in thinking Renault 5s also used this setup?

Thanks for that, I had trouble finding the engine build thread :)Still.. Must be possible.. And I've never seen it done before, so I think it'd be nice to have something a bit different!
