Hello,

i need some urgent clarification

please help urgently

1.7 litre was only in USA, I think. Maybe Canada too. Can you clarify which 1.5, there was a few different variations over the years which could be described as 1.5.

What do you mean by single oil and double oil? I've not heard that exact term before.

the 1.5lt i rrefer to is the one which was found it in the first GLS model of the golf and the 1.8 or 1790 cc engine i refer to was found in the golf GT (if i am not wrong) it made a 89BHp power.

when i say dual or single oil blocks i am trying to refer to the number of motor oil passages which are found in the block

ok I've never heard of anyone converting a 1.5 into fuel injection. The 1.6 EG code and 1.8 DX (and related) engine codes which were the 1.6GTI and 1.8GTI engines respectively, also have higher compression ratio, different pistons, larger valves, different cam internally. (The 1.8 carb engine used in Clippers and later Mk2 Sciroccos, EX code I think?, used the same higher compression ratio but smaller valves and milder cam etc).

External differences will include the lack of mechanical fuel pump (it will have a blanking plate over it), possibly mounting point for WUR on the front of the block, I think the GTIs used a different dizzy (different ignition curve), they will have a different (larger friction disc) clutch within probably the same flywheel (although there are variations of flywheel for older, I think its pre-77, engines), and I think there's a few small variations on the head either to do with injector mounting (although these are in the inlet manifold) and possible vacuum ports etc although once again all the variation might be taken up in the inlet manifold).

Other non-engine differences are many and varied: fuel tank, fuel pump, accumulator, larger fuel lines (can't use small ones, due to pressure drop etc which will lead to hard hot starting), mounting bracket for air box, washer bottle is swapped to the other side, servo might be slightly larger, MC too, slightly larger battery, different ratios within the gearbox, 5 speed instead of 4 (and all that entails with a different linkage and linkage mounting), vented instead of solid front brakes, possibly different variations on caliper due to early car, rear anti roll bar, larger front anti roll bar, different (lower) springs and dampers, sports seats, black headlining trim, adjustable mirrors, side stripes, rev counter, oil temperature gauge, etc etc and no doubt a few other details I've missed.

Now you can possibly understand why people don't convert 1.5 carb engines to fuel injection….?
