Bike Carbs on 1.5 JB

Ok so i have had enough of the carb on my 1.5 JB and the different types of weber that people say will or wont fit, along with the choke issues and the cold start woes even after changing to a weber…so….!

I have purchased a set of Yamaha XJR1300 carbs to be mated to a custom manifold. I shall be replacing/adding a Facet Red Top fuel pump, and changing all the fuel lines. I am hoping that with a litle bit of tweaking judged by an air/fuel ratio gauge they should be good enough to get me to someone to tune and set them up properly.
Now from what i can see i shall have to change the throttle cable, and the vacuum set up slightly to get it all working as it should.

Is there anything i have missed or am i completely mental in attempting this? I just thought it would make a change to the norm and be something a little more involving rather than forking out ?300 for a new bolt on carb.

I think that if done correctly i should see a bit of an improvement in driving and power perhaps not to mention an amazing sound!!! Will i see a change in rev limitations?

The way i have looked at it is that the carbs are for a 1300 engine that revs to 15/16k and so should be suitable for a 1.5 in most situations, perhaps running a little lean lower down the rev range but should be ok with a re-jet?

Please feel free to tell me what you think of the idea and me, im no where near a complete know-it-all and like learning from others so any advice is welcomed.

Cheers

Joe
